Hizron ka Khanqah- Mehrauli

 हिजङों का खानकाह का शाब्दिक अर्थ एक "सूफी आध्यात्मिक प्रतिशोध के लिए"  मेहरौली स्थित हिजड़ों की खानकाह किन्नर समुदाय के लिए आध्यात्म से जुड़ने का एक जरिया है। बाहर परिसर में किन्नरों की 50 कब्रें हैं। इन सभी को लोदी वंश के शासनकाल में 15वीं सदी में यहां दफनाया गया था। किन्नारों के लिए यह स्थान खास है। यहां पर आज भी किन्नर समूहों में या अकेले दुआ करने आते हैं और फूल चढ़ाते हैं। ज्यादातर किन्नर यहां गुरुवार को दुआ के लिए आते हैं। यहां के आसपास दुकानें हैं जिनका किराया आज भी महज 100 रुपये प्रति महीना है। #HizronKaKhanqah किन्नरों के अंतिम संस्कार को गैर-किन्नरों से छिपाकर किया जाता है। इनकी मान्यता के अनुसार अगर किसी किन्नर के अंतिम संस्कार को आम इंसान देख ले, तो मरने वाले का जन्म फिर से किन्नर के रूप में ही होगा। इनकी डेड बॉडी को जलाया नहीं जाता। इनकी बॉडी को दफनाया जाता है। अंतिम संस्कार से पहले बॉडी को जूते-चप्पलों से पीटा जाता है। कहा जाता है इससे उस जन्म में किए सारे पापों का प्रायश्चित हो जाता है। अपने समुदाय में किसी की मौत होने के बाद किन्नर अगले एक हफ्ते तक खाना नहीं खा

Prinsep Ghat- Kolkata

  Prinsep Ghat is one of the most romantic places in Kolkata. It is a perfect place to meet up with friends, a great hangout place. St. Paul's Cathedral

St. Paul's Cathedral is a  Church of North India  (CNI)  cathedral  of  Anglican  background in  Kolkata , noted for its  Gothic architecture  and dedicated to  Paul the Apostle . It is the seat of the  Diocese of Calcutta . The  cornerstone  was laid in 1839; the building was completed in 1847. It is said to be the largest church in Kolkata and the first Anglican cathedral in  Asia .It was also the first new-built cathedral in the overseas territory of the  British Empire . #StPaul'sCathedral

Kumartuli – the Colony of Potters

At Kumartuli – the Colony of Potters, More than 450 workshops owned by master sculptors regularly create idols of Gods, Goddesses and models for museums and galleries here. The busiest time of the year is from September to February when the major Hindu festivals of Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Laxmi Puja and Saraswati Puja are held. You can peep into the workshops to see the sculptors in work anytime of the year. They usually start with building the frame out of wood, bamboo and straw. The clay is dug out from the riverbed of Ganges and brought to the Ghat in Kumartuli by boatmen, from where they are supplied to the respective workshops. It may take up to months to sculpt and decorate each idol and the handiwork of scores of artists. Kumartuli is now a world phenomenon and both men and women artisans work tirelessly to create art pieces which not only adorn the Pandals of Kolkata but of Europe, Australia, Africa and America too. Howrah Bridge

  The Howrah Bridge, is the sixth-longest bridge of its type in the world.The bridge is, more specifically, a suspension type balanced cantilever bridge. Another feature which sets it apart is the fact that the bridge was formed entirely by riveting, and does not have any nuts or bolts.
